Leïla Bahsaïn-Monnier

Leïla Bahsaïn was born and raised in Salé, Morocco. She holds a Master’s degree from the IAE in Besançon, where she has lived for the past twenty years.
Her first novel, Le Ciel sous nos pas (2019), was a finalist for a dozen literary prizes and was awarded the Prix Méditerranée and the Prix du Livre Européen et Méditerranéen.
After La Théorie des aubergines (2021), Ce que je sais de monsieur Jacques (2024) is her third novel. All are published by Albin Michel.
Leïla Bahsaïn’s books are translated and published in Morocco by Editions Virgule and in Tunisia by Editions Arabesques.
She is also the author of short stories that have appeared in collective publications and in the review Apulée (Editions Zulma).
A regular guest speaker at universities and literary events, Leïla Bahsaïn also runs writing workshops for specific audiences.
